The Madison County Board of Supervisors has unanimously decided to place a county justice court clerk on paid leave and require polygraph tests for the clerk and all office employees amid an ongoing investigation.

The decision, made during an executive session on Monday, involves Justice Court Clerk Cheryl Horn. Initially, Supervisor Gerald Steen proposed placing Horn and two other employees, Dominique Walden and Zack Buckner, on paid leave. However, this motion did not advance due to a lack of support.

Documents obtained during the investigation indicate that Walden serves as a deputy clerk, while Buckner’s role within the office remains unspecified.

Details regarding the investigation’s focus were not disclosed during the public session of the meeting. Justice courts in Mississippi are responsible for handling certain civil cases, such as evictions, and misdemeanor charges including DUI offenses, along with preliminary hearings for felony cases.
