The Mercy House Adult and Teen Challenge is set to open a new addiction recovery home for women at the former Rebul Academy site in Learned, enhancing mental health resources in rural areas.
Matt Milliman, Executive Director of Mercy House, emphasized the importance of providing safe and supportive spaces for women seeking recovery. “It’s crucial for women to have access to care in a secure environment where they can find purpose and healing,” Milliman stated. The facility’s rural location is intended to offer a safe haven away from urban centers.
Mercy House has been active for over a decade, initially establishing an all-mens recovery home in Georgetown. The organization is dedicated to assisting individuals with substance abuse and addiction issues, aiming to equip them for successful societal reintegration. “We’re celebrating 15 years of helping people find freedom from addiction,” Milliman added.
A notable feature of the new facility is its accommodation for women with children, allowing them to reside together during the recovery process. “Addiction impacts the entire family,” Milliman explained. “This facility aims to be a beacon of hope for families, promoting healing for generations.”
Mercy House encourages those facing addiction to explore their services via their website. The new facility will accommodate 20 to 40 women and is expected to open in the coming months.
