A boating incident on the Reservoir left three men in need of rescue after their vessel capsized while attempting to tow a disabled boat around noon on Friday.
Reservoir Police reported the capsizing event occurred approximately 700 yards from Brown’s Landing. Upon receiving the report, multiple agencies responded promptly to the scene.
According to Reservoir Police Chief Carlos DiPuma, the response included assistance from the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks, Rankin County Sheriff’s Office, Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Madison County Emergency Management, and Padford. Rankin County deputies utilized a drone to aid in locating the overturned boat.
The men were located and rescued by a Reservoir Police officer working alongside the Mississippi Department of Wildlife. They were safely transported back to Brown’s Landing, where medical personnel were ready to evaluate their condition. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Chief DiPuma expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts, stating, “I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all responding agencies for your swift action and valuable assistance. Your support is greatly appreciated.”
