Mississippi’s public safety officials were honored for their exceptional service during the Governor’s Public Safety Awards ceremony in Flowood. The event, part of the 3rd annual Public Safety Summit, was hosted by Governor Tate Reeves, Attorney General Lynn Fitch, and Commissioner Sean Tindell.
Governor Reeves expressed gratitude for the contributions of public safety leaders statewide, stating, “Every day, public safety leaders across the state selflessly serve to protect us all. Today, we want to show our appreciation to these heroes by celebrating them.”
This year’s award recipients included:
Sergeant Brian Brock of the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office, who was named First Responder of the Year. Governor Reeves commended Sergeant Brock for his heroism and life-saving actions, describing him as “a prime example of what it means to protect and serve.”
Investigator Lee Sanders from the Madison Police Department, awarded Law Enforcement Officer of the Year. Commissioner Sean Tindell praised Sanders, stating, “His actions reflect the highest standards of law enforcement. He exemplifies what it means to be a true hero.”
Battalion Chief Allen Elliot of the Pearl Fire Department, recognized as Firefighter of the Year. State Fire Coordinator Reed Abraham, representing Commissioner of Insurance and State Fire Marshal Mike Chaney, highlighted Elliot’s dedication, noting, “Battalion Chief Elliott always goes beyond his call to duty as a leader and first responder in saving lives and protecting the public.”
Assistant District Attorney Jasmine Magee from the 2nd Judicial District, named Prosecutor of the Year. Attorney General Lynn Fitch lauded Magee’s approach to her work, saying, “Jasmine brings compassion, integrity, and thoughtfulness to every case she touches.”
