On May 23, K9 Officer Charlie from the Mississippi Department of Wildlife Fisheries and Parks played a crucial role in a double homicide investigation in Lee County. Responding to a request from the Lee County Sheriff’s Department, Officer Bradley Starling and his K9 partner, Charlie, were tasked with locating a firearm believed to be connected to the case.
The search focused on a dense, wooded area where authorities suspected the weapon had been discarded. Despite the challenging terrain, K9 Charlie quickly began his search. Officer Starling noted that within moments, Charlie showed behavioral changes, signaling the discovery of an object.
K9 Charlie successfully located the discarded firearm, providing a significant breakthrough for investigators. The weapon has since been handed over to authorities for further examination.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office, along with the local community, has expressed gratitude to K9 Charlie and Officer Starling for their effective teamwork and dedication to the investigation.
