The Sheraton Refuge and Pacesetter Gallery are teaming up to host a unique cultural event on July 17th, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at the Sheraton Missy Sippy Rooftop Lounge. This event promises to blend art, cuisine, and the stunning cityscape in an evening designed to captivate attendees.

Esteemed Mississippi artist Susan Wellington will be featured, offering live demonstrations of her oil painting techniques. Wellington, a Flowood resident celebrated nationally for her evocative seascapes, will create works inspired by the evening’s energy and the rhythms of the sea. Attendees will have the rare opportunity to observe her creative process and engage with the artist as they enjoy a coastal-themed culinary experience. Additionally, a new collection of Wellington’s coastal works will debut during the event.

The evening will also showcase a coastal-themed buffet, meticulously curated to highlight fresh, seasonal ingredients that echo the ocean’s bounty. Guests can savor these flavors alongside a specially crafted signature cocktail, designed to align with the event’s botanical theme. Tickets, priced at $100, include access to the buffet, interaction with the artist, and the signature cocktail. Availability is limited, with tickets purchasable through the Open Table app and the Pacesetter Gallery’s event page.

Keri Davis, owner of Pacesetter Gallery, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “This event will appeal to art lovers, food enthusiasts, or anyone seeking a unique evening experience. We aim to create memorable moments that celebrate the best of Mississippi.” Davis added that the gallery has curated an original art collection at the Sheraton since October 2024, showcasing Mississippi art for visitors and locals alike. “We are thrilled for guests to experience Susan Wellington’s inspiring work and the beauty of the Sheraton Rooftop,” Davis remarked.

Susan Wellington’s artistic journey has been marked by extensive travel and numerous accolades. Her work has been featured in prestigious exhibitions, including the Oil Painters of America Eastern Regional and National Juried Shows. She has earned recognition in various competitions, such as the international Bold Brush Art Competition and the Mississippi Watercolor Grand National Show. Her paintings have also been showcased on HGTV’s “Hometown” and are part of the Mississippi Governor’s Mansion permanent collection. Wellington is affiliated with several esteemed art organizations, including the Oil Painters of America and the Mississippi Watercolor Society.

This event promises a night of cultural enrichment, offering guests the chance to immerse themselves in the vibrant art and culinary scene of Mississippi.
