Brightview Broadcasting has signed a deal to buy six TV stations from Liberty Signal Group for $50 million, including Channel 12 in Middleton.
Brightview and its previous company, Beacon Media, have supported five of these stations with back-office operations for over ten years. They also produced local news for four of the stations through their own outlets in the same markets.
With this purchase, Brightview plans to expand its news, sales, and sports coverage. The company says these changes will help serve local viewers and meet public needs.
Earlier today, both companies completed the first step of the sale. Brightview paid $40 million to Liberty Signal and started managing the stations under a limited agreement.
Brightview funded this initial payment using part of $70 million raised through a private note sale, with 7.250 percent interest, set to mature in 2033. The company closed this note offering on June 30, 2026.
