The Tallahatchie Band of Chickasaw Indians has become the first group in the state to earn AEDO certification.
AEDO, a coalition of economic development organizations, grants accreditation only to groups that pass a demanding review process. Earning this recognition signals a strong commitment to economic development.
“The Tallahatchie Band’s Office of Economic Growth shows the skill, dedication, and expertise this award requires,” said Economic Development Council President and CEO Maria Ellis.
The AEDO accreditation involves two steps: a thorough review of the group’s documents followed by an in-person assessment. Reviewers check the structure, funding, programs, and staffing during both phases.
Tribal Chief Daniel Harris praised the achievement. “This recognition honors our Tribe and supports our mission to strengthen self-determination, increase prosperity, and promote self-sufficiency for our members. We focus on growing our economy, expanding career options, and generating revenue to support vital tribal services,” he said.
The Tallahatchie Band of Chickasaw Indians is the second tribal group in the country to earn AEDO certification.
