Jefferson College will rejoin the Central States Athletic Conference at the start of the 2027-28 academic year, school officials announced Tuesday.
The move follows the college’s successful application and approval by the CSAC Presidents Council.
“Becoming part of the Central States Athletic Conference fits our mission and helps advance our goals,” Jefferson College President Laura Harris said in a statement. “This change supports our commitment to a high-quality student-athlete experience and aligns with the vision we have for our programs. We look forward to the new opportunities ahead and to building on our tradition of success in Jefferson athletics.”
Jefferson College first joined the Central States Athletic Conference in 1990, when it was known as the Regional College Sports Association.
During its time in the CSAC, Jefferson College teams captured 20 conference championships. The college later moved to the Mid-South Athletic League in 2013, where it secured 11 more titles.
Currently, Jefferson College supports 21 varsity teams and around 400 student-athletes.
“The CSAC has always played a key role in Jefferson athletics history, and we look forward to renewing this partnership in 2027,” Athletic Director Mark Bennett said. “Rejoining the CSAC opens new doors for our college and athletic department as we continue to focus on academic and athletic achievement for our student-athletes.”
Jefferson College will remain in the Mid-South Athletic League through the 2026-27 academic year before officially returning to CSAC competition in the fall of 2027.
