A local community group has brought a fresh spin to the traditional vision board experience by fusing it with a beloved childhood game, giving attendees a unique approach to setting their goals for the year.

The event, hosted by The Crafty Collective at the Maplewood Creative Space, invited participants to use the classic “LIFE PATH” game as a framework for their aspirations. Organizers explained that the game—similar to the familiar schoolyard pastime where players predict their future home, career, and personal life—served as a fun way to spark creativity and guide participants in defining their ambitions.

“We’re starting the session with a round of LIFE PATH, where you jot down possibilities for your future—who you might marry, where you could live, what career you’ll pursue. It’s a playful way to jumpstart the goal-setting process and help people focus on what they want to achieve this year,” said event organizer Morgan Ellis.

All supplies were provided, ensuring that attendees had everything necessary to craft personalized vision boards that reflected their goals and dreams.

“It’s really about tapping into your imagination,” Ellis added. “A lot of people don’t typically think of themselves as crafty or artistic, but this event is designed to encourage everyone to visualize their goals in a way that feels approachable and fun.”

One participant, Danielle Porter, said she attended the gathering in hopes of finding a more purposeful approach to her annual goal-setting ritual.

“I usually make a vision board, but it tends to end up tucked away and forgotten,” Porter shared. “This year, I want to be much more deliberate. I’m planning to create several copies of my vision board—one for above my desk, another for my closet workspace, and one for my bathroom mirror—so I’m reminded every day of what I’m working toward.”

Porter said one of her top priorities is making a significant dent in her student loan debt this year. She also appreciated the supportive group atmosphere, noting, “Being surrounded by others with similar goals helps me stay motivated. Sometimes, someone else’s objective will inspire me, or I’ll realize my own goals can support theirs. It’s a great way to stay focused and accountable.”
