Larry Ware has been appointed to a new role at the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (MDPS), bringing extensive experience and a strong reputation for integrity. Ware, a Mississippi State University alumnus with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, began his law enforcement career in 2009 at the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office. During his tenure there, he held several leadership positions, including Unit Supervisor of the Vulnerable Persons Unit and Chief Investigator of the Public Integrity Division.
In 2021, Ware transitioned to the Mississippi Office of the State Auditor as a Special Agent, where he was soon promoted to Director of Investigations by State Auditor Shad White. Under Ware’s leadership, the investigations team successfully recovered over $6 million in misappropriated public funds over the past four years.
Commissioner Sean Tindell of the MDPS expressed enthusiasm about Ware’s appointment, stating, “We’re glad to have Larry join the MDPS family. His years of experience, dedication, and integrity will be invaluable as he takes on this important role. We look forward to the positive impact he will have on our team and state.”
State Auditor Shad White also praised Ware, saying, “I’m very proud to have worked alongside Larry Ware, who’s one of the best investigators I’ve ever encountered. MDPS is lucky to have him. We have named an interim successor to Larry and will continue to work to meet the standard of investigations that Larry set.”
Ware’s appointment is effective immediately.
