The City of Madison has expressed gratitude to the volunteers from Keep Madison the City Beautiful for their efforts in planting zinnias for public enjoyment this summer. City officials have issued a reminder to residents that the flowers are not yet ready for cutting.
A sign indicating “Ready to Cut” will be displayed when the zinnias are ready, with updates also provided on the city’s Facebook page. Until then, the public is encouraged to admire the blooms without picking them.
Once the zinnias reach maturity, residents will be permitted to cut—rather than pull—the flowers to allow them to continue blooming throughout the season. The designated public cutting area will be the large field on Madison Avenue, located just west of the railroad tracks.
Residents are advised to stay informed through city updates and prepare for the upcoming zinnia season.
