A thriving local company is putting its city on the map by providing hundreds of jobs and making waves in the global medical industry.
MedAxis Solutions, headquartered on Commerce Avenue in Westbrook, is recognized for its innovative contributions to the medical device field. The company specializes in designing, producing, and manufacturing advanced spinal implants and biologics used by surgeons around the world.
Recently, community members and officials had the opportunity to tour MedAxis’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. Westbrook Mayor Linda Peterson expressed pride in having such a forward-thinking enterprise rooted in the metro area.
“With nearly 300 employees, if you or a loved one undergo a spinal fusion or discectomy, there’s a strong chance the implants originated right here in Westbrook,” Peterson said. “We’re incredibly proud of the economic boost, job creation, and the improved quality of life their products bring to patients globally.”
Founded in 2012 by Westbrook resident Michael Evans, MedAxis Solutions has expanded its operations with an additional facility in Kansas City, Missouri.
Newly appointed CEO Jason Carter highlighted the advantages of U.S.-based manufacturing. “Producing our products locally—especially here in Mississippi and Westbrook—gives us a major edge. Unlike many competitors who outsource production, we control the process, which means better margins and the ability to reinvest quickly in our team, future technologies, and the local community,” Carter said.
