First graders at Oakcrest Academy turned compassion into action this week by selecting a local animal shelter as the focus of their class service project, culminating in the delivery of a car packed with donated supplies.

The initiative, coordinated by teachers and parents, drew contributions from dozens of families within the school community. Staff at the shelter reported that the donation included essential items for daily animal care, ranging from food and treats to cleaning supplies and blankets.

“We couldn’t be more grateful,” a shelter representative said. “Seeing an entire car overflowing with love—and supplies—had us giggling at the madness. These students and their families made a real difference for animals who need it most.”

Organizers extended special thanks to Oakcrest Academy parents and teachers for encouraging student involvement and for setting an early example of community service.

Shelter representatives stated that the donations will be put to immediate use and will help improve comfort, enrichment, and care for animals awaiting adoption. “We’re proud to be part of such a caring community,” the representative added.
