Hundreds of students from across the River City School District gathered at the Central State Expo Center for the district’s highly anticipated Science Fair and STEAM Expo. The event provided a platform for budding scientists to showcase their creativity and passion for science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.

“We love seeing the students get excited about science,” said attendee Alicia Thompson. “It’s fantastic that River City hosts this exhibit each year, giving kids exposure to so many different aspects of STEAM. I look forward to it every time.”

The expo was buzzing with activity as students donned their thinking caps and presented their science experiments to classmates, teachers, and community members. The venue was filled with hands-on experiments and live demonstrations, drawing crowds of curious onlookers. Several participants were honored with awards recognizing their innovative projects.

The primary goal of the River City Science Fair and STEAM Expo is to ignite students’ interest in science and demonstrate its vast possibilities.

“Elementary students get to see high schoolers and even university professors with a shared passion for STEAM,” said Dr. Monique Harris, River City School District Assistant Superintendent. “Families love watching our students gain exposure to so many opportunities right here in our community.”

Alicia Thompson attended the event with her niece, continuing a family tradition of exploring science fairs together. Thompson emphasized the importance of introducing children to science early.

“It’s exciting because science is the future,” Thompson noted. “If you’re not engaged with science, you’ll get left behind. Events like these help kids see what’s possible and spark their curiosity about what science can do for the world.”

Student participant Tyler Grant was eager to explore the expo and learn from his peers. “Walking around, seeing all the experiments and creative ideas—it’s inspiring,” Grant said.

Event organizers aim to expand the Science Fair and STEAM Expo next year, bringing even more opportunities for students to discover, create, and innovate.
