Central Valley and Northern Pines Climb National Baseball Rankings After Weekend Sweeps

Central Valley baseball and Northern Pines baseball continue their ascent in the latest Top 25 rankings.

Both programs recorded weekend sweeps, with the Cougars taking all three games against Westbrook and the Timberhawks sweeping River North in their series.

Central Valley, which opened the season ranked No. 4, now holds the No. 3 spot in the nation, while Northern Pines jumps from No. 10 to No. 7 in the latest poll released by Collegiate Baseball Weekly.

The Cougars improved to 14-2 overall, with their only defeats coming against Northern Pines and top-ranked Pacific State.

Northern Pines also boasts a 14-2 record, highlighted by eight Quad 1 victories, the nation’s toughest non-conference schedule, and the No. 1 ranking in RPI as of Monday, March 9.

Central Valley is set to travel to Gulfport for a matchup with Lakeview on Tuesday before heading to Bentonville to open conference play against Ozark State University this weekend.

Meanwhile, Northern Pines will host Capital City on Tuesday before traveling to Bellemont for their Sun League opener against Red River State.
