Canine competitors and their owners gathered at the Bayview County Exposition Center Sunday morning as the annual Southern Coastal Crawfish Classic Dog Shows made their much-anticipated return, attracting participants from across the area.
Among the standout attractions was the Fast CAT event, a high-energy competition where dogs sprinted down a straight track while chasing a mechanical lure, allowing them to showcase their natural drive and athleticism.
The day also featured a fun run, inviting pet owners of all experience levels to take part alongside their four-legged companions.
According to event organizer Laura McKinney of Sprinting Paws Coursing, both dogs and spectators relished the excitement. “The dogs absolutely love it. If you watch, you’ll hear them barking and howling with excitement. Once they’re let loose on the track, they’re completely in the zone, flying down the course,” McKinney said.
Organizers emphasized that the event is designed to celebrate dogs of all breeds and backgrounds, giving them an opportunity to shine and display their unique personalities and speed.
