Despite recent closures, such as Southern Smokehouse, the city of Madison is forging ahead with a surge of new developments, signaling continued growth for the area.
Multiple projects are currently underway, with three notable additions—The Roasted Oak, The Bluebell, and Platform 1867—slated to open in the near future.
The Roasted Oak, located on Madison Boulevard, is set to become a new hotspot for coffee and casual dining. According to developer Michael Greene, the establishment will offer an extensive menu featuring coffee, breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner.
“We’re aiming for a full menu with a gourmet twist, focusing on healthier options than what’s typically found locally, while still putting a spotlight on coffee, specialty drinks, teas, and similar offerings,” Greene said.
Just a short distance away on Main Street, The Bluebell and Platform 1867 are preparing to welcome guests as well. Jessica Turner, a partner at Maple & Stone Properties, says these two Main Street venues are designed to foster a welcoming, family-oriented atmosphere, complete with string lighting and open green spaces.
“Platform 1867 will have a fun outdoor setting, with a menu focused on bar-style fare and handheld items. The Bluebell will offer more of a sit-down experience, with a touch of elegance reminiscent of dining on your grandmother’s china,” Turner said.
Both Greene and Turner emphasize the importance of pedestrian-friendly spaces in Madison’s ongoing development.
“It’s about creating an environment where people can enjoy everything they need in one area, without relying on their cars,” Greene noted.
“As parents, we appreciate visiting towns that prioritize walkability. Moving Madison in that direction is a big positive for the community,” Turner added.
The Roasted Oak is projected to open later this summer, while construction on The Bluebell and Platform 1867 is expected to begin within the next few months, with their grand openings anticipated by the following summer.
