Young Boy and Neighbor Form Heartwarming Bond Through Simple Acts of Kindness

SHARE NOW

A simple request for a few dollars has led to a lasting friendship between a young boy and his neighbor in Oakridge.

Seven-year-old Mason Turner wanted to earn money for a special goal—a sewing machine. He went door to door in his neighborhood until he met Evelyn Carter, who agreed to give him some chores.

Each week, Mason brings in Carter’s garbage can and picks up her mail every day. These tasks help Carter avoid falls and stay independent in her home.

“Mason helps me, and that keeps me from needing extra help or moving out,” Carter said.

Carter contributed to Mason’s savings for his sewing machine. To thank her, Mason sewed a pillow using fabric with his favorite superhero characters.

“I made her a pillow to say thank you and because I care about her,” Mason said.
